Under the hood of DALL-E2 is a powerful substructure, namely a multimodal implementation of GPT-3. This is able to interpret text and replace it with pixels. GPT-3 itself was trained with several hundred gigabytes of text and is currently one of the most extensive language models.

Descript Overdub is arguably the most controversial Artificial Intelligence tool on our list. Ethically extremely questionable, but fascinating at the same time. While image generators such as DALL-E2 can only be used sensibly for single images, Kaiber’s AI goes one step further. In the end, the rendered video looks quite homogeneous and, depending on the specifications, realistic. Nevertheless, it can already be seen from the second frame that the work comes from an AI. Although the individual images are output here with great consistency, each image is generated individually and this results in deviations and unsteady image sequences – which of course can also be intentional.
